Alcohol Advisory Council of New Zealand (ALAC) Strengthening Community Action on Alcohol This publication has been created in response to calls from people working at a community level looking for ideas on where to start in reducing alcohol related harm.
Alcohol Issues in Alice Springs and the Role of Alice Springs Town Council Alice Springs Town Council is one of the many concerned stakeholders seeking to minimise harms related to alcohol and the economic and social costs to the community. Alice Springs, along with other isolated regions and towns across Australia and in the Territory, has one of the highest rates of consumption of alcohol per capita in Australia. The Alice Springs Town Council has adopted a position and has resolved to take a “leadership role in resolving alcohol issues in Alice Springs by encouraging and supporting concerned community groups and organisations to participate”.
Community Alcohol Action Network (CANN) CAAN aims to reduce alcohol problems by tackling social and cultural forces that drive unsafe and heavy drinking. CAAN fosters public awareness of alcohol problems and seeks to mobilise the community to take action against inappropriate alcohol use, advertising and supply.
